When performing a CD install of Fedora Core 4 to certain platforms, one of the following occurs:
The bug and a workaround is documented in this bugzilla report:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=159026
The problem is caused by a command line buffer overflow in the version of isolinux.bin (part of the syslinux package) used in the FC4 installer. This problem has been fixed in rawhide.
Version 08292005 of the ASL Fedora Core 4 media has an upgraded syslinux which fixes the problem.
For older versions, and for the stock Fedora core media, typing a dummy string at the installer prompt often works around the problem:
boot: workaround Could not find kernel image: workaround boot:
Hitting enter to run the installer will now work correctly.
